NEW YORK, NOV 17 - "This is not a game". Michelle Obama intervenes with a long Instagram post about President Donald Trump's refusal to accept the election result and allow President-elect Joe Biden to transition smoothly to the White House.
The former First Lady explains that one of the great responsibilities of a president is to listen when the people speak and although it was hard for them to accept Trump's victory in 2016, all staff at the time were trained to allow a peaceful passing of the baton.
"We invited - he writes - the president-elect's team to our offices and prepared detailed notes for them on what we had learned over the past eight years and as George and Laura Bush had done with us". He then concludes that love for the country requires respecting the result of the elections even when they don't like it because the presidency does not belong to a single individual or to a party. "Pretending that it is - he says - playing with these baseless conspiracy theories, both for personal and political reasons, is to endanger the health and safety of the country". (HANDLE).
