PORT AU PRINCE, AUG 24 - Tropical storm Laura, which is expected to turn into a hurricane in the next few hours, hit Cuba overnight, after killing at least 12 people in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Another hurricane, Marco, heads towards the southern coast of the United States and in particular Louisiana, where Laura also seems to be headed.
"It is a tropical storm that does not yet have the organization that could have a hurricane," Cuban meteorologist José Rubierta told state television. Laura entered Cuba from the east with gusts reaching 146 km / h and waves of over 3 meters above the town of Maisi, at the eastern end of the island, in the province of Guantanamo, where the electricity was cut as a precaution . The winds have ripped the roofs of some houses and caused other damage, but at the moment without causing victims.
