LONDON, JAN 30 - New case of accusations of harassment in the world of entertainment and art, against the background of the MeToo: the Royal Ballet Company has announced that it has suspended the famous choreographer Liam Scarlett, 33 years old, suspected of inappropriate and predatory behavior towards young and very young students of the famous British dance institution.
The complaints against Scarlet date back to last August, but only today the Times revealed the news of the disciplinary measure against him. The choreographer, former dancer and star of the Royal Ballet between 2006 and 2012, was accused of having put his hands on pupils and alumni, of following them in the changing rooms, of having urged them to send him photos without clothes. "We learned of these complaints in August 2019 - the company's management confirms in a note - and the suspension was immediate as an autonomous disciplinary act" while investigations by the authorities are ongoing.
