BEIJING - Over thirty million people closed in their cities. On the edge of reality, it seems the end of the world is read on Chinese social networks. To try to stop the lung virus, the authorities have mounted a quarantine operation of proportions never before attempted in history. And the fear of contagion has also reached the heart of China's imperial pride: the Forbidden City in Beijing will not welcome tourists until further notice. According to the numbers of the Reuters agency, the victims of the new coronavirus strain are now twenty-five, while the cities where the transport blockade was imposed are ten, for a total of 32 million citizens involved. In the United States, the second case of infection has been confirmed, a 60-year-old woman from Chicago who returned from Wuhan on January 13 and is currently hospitalized and clinically stable while three cases have been ascertained in France, the first in Europe. After the Forbidden City, the Shanghai Disney Resort and some sections of the Great Wall were also closed to avoid the risk of infection.
