A convoy of Iraqi militias north of Baghdad was attacked late on Friday by US air strikes which resulted in seven deaths and three serious injuries: the Reuters news agency reported on its site citing an Iraqi army source. According to reports by the Iranian broadcaster Press TV, Shibl al Zaidi, leader of the Imam Ali Brigades, a militia that is part of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) aligned with Iran, was killed in the attack. His brother and five bodyguards were reported to have been killed with him. The attack took place in the aftermath of the elimination of General Qassem Soleimani.
