BEIRUT, 10 DEC - Thousands of protesters are pouring into Baghdad today towards Tahrir square and on the bridges that connect the square, symbol of popular mobilization taking place since October 1, in the western part of the city. Iraqi local and media sources report it, saying activists have called an "unprecedented" mass gathering in Baghdad for this afternoon. Pan-Arab media report the attempt by tens of thousands of protesters from the southern regions of the country, the epicenter of the anti-government revolt, to reach the capital and Tahrir Square. The security forces and the army are massively deployed in Baghdad and in other cities, the scene of protests.
From October 1 to today more than 450 people, mostly activists and protesters, have been killed by government repression and unspecified loyal armed men.
