DAKAR, 5 DEC - At least 58 migrants died yesterday when the boat they were on turned upside down in the Atlantic ocean in front of the coasts of Mauritania: this was announced by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Eighty-three people managed to save themselves by swimming on the shore. There were at least 150 people on the barge, which had left Gambia on November 27th, including women and children.
The wounded, whose number is still unknown, were taken to the hospital in Nouadhibou (north). The death toll is one of the highest recorded this year.
