59 million children in war or calamity

ROME, DECEMBER 4 - One child in four on the planet lives in countries at war or affected by natural disasters. Never had childhood been so heavily affected and UNICEF is preparing to launch the largest fundraiser ever for 2020: 4.2 billion dollars, as many as needed to bring help over the next year to as many as 59 million children in need situation in 64 countries of the world.
This is the largest appeal to donors ever made, 3.5 times higher than the funds requested in 2010.
