BERLIN, 29 NOV - Angela Merkel will have a bilateral meeting with US president Donald Trump next week, on the sidelines of the London summit. Chancellor Ulrike Demmer's spokeswoman announced. The meeting comes after the dispute (leaked from the NYT) between the chancellor and Emmanuel Macron, on the allegations of the French president on the Alliance, considered "in brain death". Germany considers NATO indispensable: Europe cannot defend itself on its own right, Merkel said speaking to the Bundestag two days ago, and Germany must take on more responsibility. To Trump, who has bitterly attacked Berlin in the past by accusing the Germans of not investing enough in defense, Merkel will answer that she has increased investments for 2020 and wants to reach 2% of GDP in the early 1930s.
