California burns, fear for the next few hours

NEW YORK, OCTOBER 27 - California governor Gavin Newsom attacks PG&E, the utility that is preparing to cut off the electricity supply to millions of inhabitants in what appears to be the biggest blackout in the history of the state. A decision motivated by the strong winds that risk creating problems for the transmission grid and fueling the flames that are already devouring California. "We are working on an emergency declaration for the entire state. The next 72 hours will be difficult," Newsom said, ensuring that even without electricity, hospitals are safe thanks to autonomous generators, while authorities are working with retailers to keep them open. PG&E "has not updated the networks: the blackouts are not the norm" adds Newsom, hoping that offers will arrive to buy PG&E, which resorted to assisted bankruptcy after last year's fire that killed people and of which it was held responsible. "For PG&E, I want offers that go beyond hedge funds," Newsom highlights, inviting potential suitors to come forward. (ANSA).
