ROME, OCTOBER 21 - Chilean Interior Minister Andrés Chadwick confirmed the death toll of seven deaths in the street protests against the increase in tariffs, announcing that he had extended the state of emergency, which had been going on for two days in the capital, to others city of the country. And while Santiago is experiencing its second night of curfew, the government has announced that up to now 152 people have been arrested for violence, 40 for looting and 70 for serious assaults. President Sebastian Pinera also spoke shortly afterwards: "We are at war against a powerful and relentless enemy, who respects nothing or nobody," he said, again condemning the violence that occurred during the protests this weekend against the increase in tariffs . Piñera, during a meeting with the media, insisted on the "organized" nature of the protests underlining that "the sole purpose" of those responsible "is to cause the greatest damage possible".
