PARIS, SEPTEMBER 27 - The fire that broke out at Rouen, in the north of France, in a chemical factory, on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, is extinguished: local authorities announced it this morning.
The fire did not cause victims but caused fears of pollution of the Seine. The dark cloud that rose from the burning establishment reached 22 km in length in the Rouen area, where the 500,000 inhabitants were invited to stay indoors yesterday.
The extinction was confirmed by the prefecture and by the firemen, who have however decided to maintain an important garrison on the site of the "Lubrizol" factory, which produces fuel additives, from where a slight white smoke still rises and an "unpleasant smell" persists .
