BEIJING, SEPTEMBER 3 - Hong Kong's governor Carrie Lam never thought of resigning despite the release of an audio in which she expressed a desire to do so. "It was a private conversation that was released to the public," he said in the weekly conference before his cabinet meeting, adding that he considered the episode "inappropriate" and "very disappointed". Lam said that Beijing still believes that Hong Kong "can solve the unrest on its own" and its goal is to restore order and stability.
