BERLIN, AUGUST 29 - Meeting with Palestinian President Abu Mazen, Chancellor Angela Merkel reiterated that the goal remains that of a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that allows the two peoples to live in peace and security. According to the German agency DPA.
Merkel ruled before a meeting in Berlin with Abu Mazen but warned that the goal of creating two states "is increasingly difficult to achieve".
The Palestinians have the right to a good life from an economic and social point of view, the chancellor said, whose government last year was the largest bilateral financier of the Palestinian territories with a total of 110 million euros.
Abu Mazen, for his part, reiterated his willingness to negotiate for a two-state solution in the 1967 borders and praised Merkel's efforts to seek multilateral collaboration to resolve the world's crises.
