NEW YORK, AUGUST 22 - The executioner strikes again in Texas, where a man's execution was carried out for the kidnapping, rape and killing of a university student in 1998.
Larry Swearingen's execution took place through lethal injection: the man has always declared himself innocent. With Swearingen, the number of executions in the United States since the beginning of the year rose to 12, including four in Texas. Twelve minutes after the lethal injection Swearingen was pronounced dead. His last words were: "Forgive them, they don't know what they are doing".
