KABUL, AUGUST 18 - An explosion hit a hall where a wedding party was taking place in Kabul, causing, according to official sources, dozens of victims of the dead and wounded. Witnesses told ANSA that it was a suicide attack. The Emergency hospital in Kabul wrote on Twitter: "Explosion in a hotel where there was a wedding party. About 20 people were transported to our hospital". Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, confirmed that there were many victims, but did not provide numbers. Rahimi said the explosion occurred at Dubay City Hall in the western part of the Afghan capital, where the Hazara Shiite community predominates.
Ten days ago a car bomb placed by the Taliban with the intent of hitting security forces exploded in the same area, causing 14 deaths and 145 wounded, mostly civilians.
