TEHRAN, AUGUST 14 - The former mayor of Tehran, Mohammad Ali Najafi, sentenced to death for the murder of his second wife Mitra Ostad, has been forgiven by the victim's family and therefore, according to Islamic law in force in Iran, not will be executed. The victim's brother, Masud Ostad, announced it on Instagram. The news was confirmed by the family lawyer. According to the Fars agency, Najafi will now have to serve only three years in prison.
