CARACAS, 2 AUGUST - Thalía Olvino, a young 19-year-old marketing student, has become the new Miss Venezuela and will represent the country this year at Miss Universe, the competition that should take place in December and in which the country has won seven crowns .
Olvino, 1.78 tall and representative of the Venezuelan state of Delta Amacuro, was elected on Thursday evening in an event that lasted just over three hours and broadcast on the private channel Venevisión.
The girl won against Melissa Jiménez, from the western state of Zulia (on the border with Colombia), who will represent the country in the Miss International competition. In descending order, the candidates from the states of Apure, Monagas and the Capital District completed the ranking of the five finalists.
Unlike other years, and for the first time in 67 years of the competition, the 'measures' of the candidates have not been announced, as the organizers have assured that the beauty of the woman is not determined by the bust or hips but by skills and the talent.
