It went as planned: Boris Johnson is the new leader of British conservatives and today he will take office in Downing Street as prime minister in place of Theresa May, crowning the dreams and ambitions of a lifetime. He was elected by the 160,000 members of the party with over 92,000 votes, compared with 46,000 for his challenger, Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt.
