ISTANBUL, 11 JULY - The extraordinary meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, convened yesterday in Vienna at the request of the United States, represented a political defeat for Washington, which wanted a condemnation of Iran in that headquarters. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif claimed this at a conference this morning in Tehran with local Iranian governors, according to IRNA. The US believed in vain that it could destroy the Islamic Republic with economic sanctions, but they found themselves increasingly "isolated" in the international area, Zarif added. "The world superpower has failed to obtain even a single-line statement to the council of governors in the presence of all its allies," the Iranian minister said.
