Rio, over 1,300 weapons wounded in 2019

ROME, JUNE 19 - The state and municipal emergency departments of Rio de Janeiro have assisted more than 1,300 gunshot wounds since the beginning of the year.
From 2017 to April 2019, 10,159 victims of firearms in the Carioca metropolis.
Some observers compare the situation in Rio to that of some countries at war.
Only at the municipal hospital Miguel Couto, in the Southern Zone of the city, during the first three months of the year there were 40 bullet wounded, an average of 13 per month.
The guns of the weapons that hit people in the emergency room are also frightening: in many cases, they are shotguns, 9 mm guns or high-speed automatic weapons.
