ROME, JUNE 11 - The Alabama governor, Kay Ivey, has signed the law that obliges those convicted of sexual offenses against children under the age of 13 to start chemical castration a month before their release, at their own expense.
The provision provides that the interested parties continue the treatment until a court evaluates that it is no longer necessary. "The law is a step towards protecting children in Alabama," Ivey commented.
