Elections 2019 in Spain: victory of the Socialists of Sanchez but no majority

Mon, 29 Apr 2019 11:36:30 +0200

Net recovery of the Socialists of outgoing Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, advance of the liberal Europeanists of Ciudadanos, collapse of the Partido Popular and the ultra-right Vox entering for the first once in parliament even with a lower than expected package of votes. It is the political scenario traced by the polls in Spain where the parliament voted to renew. Despite the reshuffling of consensus, however, the general picture does not change. Neither the left wing (socialists and Podemos) nor the right wing (Popolari and Ciudadanos) have enough votes to govern. Closer to the goal is the left which will still need the support of smaller parties, in particular the Catalan independentists.
