COLOMBO, APRIL 27 - Sri Lankan security forces found 15 bodies, including those of six children, after militants linked to the Easter attacks opened fire and detonated explosives during an army raid on their home in the east of the country.
The shooting began last night after a police tear at the soldiers on an alleged hideout of militiamen near the town of Sammanthurai. The Sri Lankan government has promised swift action to capture the terrorists still at large.
President Maithripala Sirisena said that 140 people have been identified as having ties to ISIS. "An important research operation has been undertaken - Sirisena said - and every house in the country will be controlled".
