NEW YORK, APRIL 16 - Coney Island is officially open for the summer. The iconic amusement park on the waterfront in Brooklyn, New York, started the season by celebrating an important anniversary, the 92 years of the 'Cyclone', the historic roller coaster that together with the Ferris wheel is part of the skyline of the neighborhood that is actually a small peninsula in Brooklyn.
The opening of the park season, as tradition dictates, was done with the ceremony of egg-cream, a carbonated drink with chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Also present at the ceremony was Alessandro Zamperla, son of Alberto Zamperla of the homonymous Italian company leader in the jousting sector.
After years of neglect, the Zamperla family has recovered the Coney Island park bringing it back to its former glory.
