CAIRO, MARCH 7 - Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in a message read for Women's Day, praised the peaceful nature of the demonstrations against his new candidacy but also warned against the "chaos" that could result from the protest. The website of the Algerian agency Aps reports it.
In the text "read in his name" by the Minister of Posts, Houda-Imane Faraoun, the president - hospitalized in a Swiss hospital - affirms that he "welcomes" the "maturity" shown by citizens expressing "peacefully their opinions".
"However, we must appeal to the vigilance and prudence of any infiltration of this peaceful expression by any insidious element, internal or external, which could - Allah protect us - sow the 'Fitna' (discord) and cause chaos with all that they can provoke, like crisis and pain ", warned Bouteflika.
