ROME, March 4 - Wrapped in adhesive tape and hidden inside suitcases: so, in a Philippine airport, more than 1,500 turtles were found, ready to end up in the illegal market of exotic animals. The CNN reports it. The turtles, as a whole, have a value of about 76 thousand euros.
The animals smuggled on a flight from Hong Kong and were found in four unclaimed baggage at Manila International Airport. Some of the discovered turtles are classified as vulnerable by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), but are often sold as pets.
