ATMORE (ALABAMA), 8 FEB - He was finally executed without seeing his request to have an imam of a Muslim religion inmate sentenced to death in Alabama. The execution took place a while ago by lethal injection, in Atmore prison. Dominique Ray, 42, had expressed a desire to have her Islamic spiritual advisor close to the execution, like Christian inmates usually assisted by a chaplain. Received a denial, he had sued the State of Alabama and the execution had been postponed until the highest court of the state has not rejected his request definitively, giving his go-ahead. The State has motivated its denial by the impossibility of admitting an external person in the execution room. An inmate's trusted imam could watch the execution from a nearby room. The man was convicted of killing a fifteen year old, Tiffany Harville, in 1995, 24 years ago.
