Minister Trenta gave instructions to the Coi (the inter-operational summit operational Command - ed) to evaluate the start of a planning for the withdrawal of the Italian contingent in Afghanistan. According to sources of the defense, adding that the time horizon could be that of 12 months. The Italian announcement could be part of a progressive disengagement of the West from the Afghan war theater: even the United States and the Taliban have found an agreement in principle for a framework agreement on peace in Afghanistan. This was announced by the American envoy, Zalmay Khalilzad, in an interview with the New York Times by Kabul. The draft agreement foresees by the guerrillas the commitment not to make the country become a sanctuary of terrorists; the Americans instead commit themselves to a total withdrawal of the troops in exchange for the ceasefire and the Taliban involvement in talks with the Afghan government.
