HARARE, 21 JAN - The Supreme Court of Zimbabwe ordered the government to restore full Internet access in the country. The court ruled that the closure of the Internet by the government was illegal because the minister of state security, the author of the order, does not have the power to issue such a directive. Only President Emmerson Mnangagwa - explained the Court - has the authority to issue such an order. The Zimbabwe government closed the Internet for much of last week. Over the weekend he partially restored it, but maintained a blackout on social media apps like Facebook, Whatsapp and Twitter.
