(ANSA-AP) - SUMUR (INDONESIA), 26 DEC - The Indonesian authorities have asked people close to the volcanic island Anak Krakatoa to avoid the coasts, while monitoring the eruptions and the weather and marine conditions for tsunami risk.
The Agency of meteorology, geophysics and climatology has asked people to stay at least 500 meters from the coasts around the Sonda Strait.
The bad weather and the continuous eruptions "could potentially cause landslides on the crater reefs at sea and we fear that this could trigger a new tsunami", said the head of the agency Dwikorita Karnawati last night (ANSA).
